SWARTHMORE, Pa. - SUNY Geneseo junior Sam Montague and first-year Julianna Schulz each earned a pair of singles victories to lead the Knights at the Swarthmore Invitational, hosted by Swarthmore College just outside of Philadelphia, Pa., over the weekend.
Montague earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory in her first round match and edged her opponent, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 10-8 in her second round match. She went on to earn a doubles victory as well, teaming with sophomore Dana Sorrentino to take an 8-5 win in the second round of doubles play.
Schulz defeated her first round opponent, 6-0, 7-5, and earned a three-set third round victory, coming back from a first set loss to win, 6-7 (1), 6-4, 10-6.
Senior Vanessa Lam-Tran accounted for three Geneseo victories, earning a 6-1, 6-1, win in the first round of singles play, and teaming with first-year Natalia Krol to earn an 8-1 victory in the first round of doubles and an 8-2 victory in round four.
The Knights will resume dual matches on Tuesday when they travel to face State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) foe Brockport at 4:00 p.m.
