GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's and women's swimming & diving teams are sending 10 student-athletes to compete at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, beginning Wednesday, March 20 in Greensboro, N.C.
First-year diver Corey Wirth will represent the men's swimming & diving team after qualifying for the national championships at the NCAA Regionals last Saturday at RIT. Wirth placed third in the one-meter dive with a score of 479.75 and added a third-place finish in the three-meter (490.10) to earn a trip to the national meet.
Junior divers Samantha Reichman and Kiersten Coates, along with sophomore diver Alyssa Vadala also qualified with strong performances at regionals. Reichman earned her second-consecutive trip the national meet with second-place finishes in both the three-meter (486.25) and one-meter (451.60) competitions. Coates finished fourth in the three-meter (450.90) while Vadala turned in a third-place finish in the one-meter (439.30) to each earn their first trip to nationals.
Senior Nancy Nasky will participate in her fourth NCAA Championship meet after qualifying in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.94 at SUNYAC Championships. Sophomores Deidra Osula set a SUNYAC record at the conference championship meet to qualify in the 50-freestyle (23.35). She anchored the Knights' 200 free relay team, joining sophomores Noelle Staso, Maddie Knight and Kelly Lennon, to clock in at 1:34.90, qualifying for the national meet and setting a SUNYAC record. Sophomore Lauren Siegel will attend her first NCAA Championship meet after qualifying in the 200 IM. Siegel finished with a SUNYAC record 2:05.40 at the conference championships to seal her place on the national stage.
