GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo women's soccer seniors Emily Janiszewski and Rachel Walsh along with junior Taylor Clar were each named to the Scholar All-America Teams by the United Soccer Coaches, marking the most Scholar All-America selections the Knights have garnered in one season.
A United Soccer Coaches All-American selection, Janiszewski was named to the Scholar All-America First Team. She has earned a 3.46 GPA in the business administration program while posting a program-record tying 13 shutouts in goal this season. She set the Geneseo record with 41 career shutouts and finished fourth in Division III with a .190 goals against average and tied for fourth with a .929 save percentage.
Walsh was named to the Scholar All-America Third Team after posting a 3.63 GPA in biology. She started 19 games for the Knights at back, and helped shut out opponents 14 times. A United Soccer Coaches All-Region selection for the second-consecutive season, Walsh scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Oneonta (Oct. 5).
Clar joined her defensive linemate on the Scholar All-America Third Team with a 3.85 GPA in accouting. A three-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team selection, Clar started 16 games at back as part of a defense that ranked 19th in the nation with a .465 goals against average and 10th in the country with a .737 shutout percentage. Clar also scored a goal and handed out two assists.
