GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Leah Greene, senior forward Emily Green and first-year back Taylor Clar were named to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III Women's All-East Region Team, announced Thursday.
Greene was named a first-team honoree for the second time after also landing the award in 2014. A three-time State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Star as well, she finished the season with two goals and an assist, including the game-winning tally in the Knights' 3-0 victory opposite visiting Oneonta in the SUNYAC Tournament Semifinals.
Also a second-team all-region pick a season ago, Green was tabbed a third-team honoree to finish her career in a Geneseo uniform. The two-time SUNYAC All-Star finished second on the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 win over visiting Brockport (Oct. 8) as well as in a 2-0 home win over Houghton (Sept. 15).
Clar capped her first season with the squad by landing third-team All-Region honors as well as first-team All-SUNYAC recognition after keying a Knights' defense that led the SUNYAC and ranked among the national leaders with a 0.34 goals against average, only allowing six goals the entire season. Clar scored her first collegiate tally in a 3-0 win over visiting Plattsburgh (Oct. 22) in the regular-season finale.
Geneseo finished the season with a 9-3-5 record, including a 6-1-2 SUNYAC mark that clinched the second seed for the conference postseason. Following a 3-0 shutout of defending champion Oneonta in the semifinals, the Knights advanced to their third SUNYAC Tournament Championship match in four seasons. The season came to a close after a 1-0 setback at top-seeded Buffalo State in the title game.
