GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Emily Green and junior back Alexa Wandy were named to the 2015 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III All-East Region team, Wednesday. Green was a second-team selection while Wandy garnered third-team honors.
Green is honored after finishing fourth in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) with 18 points on eight goals and two assists and tied for first with five game-winning goals. A second-team All-SUNYAC member, Green tallied two or more points on six occasions.
Following a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory at Skidmore (Sept. 18), Green scored both goals in a 2-0 win at Farmingdale State (Sept. 20) to record seven points over a two-game stretch. Green also scored in the 89th minute to defeat host Fredonia, 1-0 (Sept. 25) and notched two goals in a 3-0 shutout at Brockport (Oct. 10).
A 2014 All-East Region First-Team selection and three-time SUNYAC All-Star, Wandy is a major part of a backfield that recorded a SUNYAC-best 10 shutouts and stood second with 12 goals allowed. Wandy is steadily one of the conference's toughest defenders and is tasked with guarding opponents' biggest offensive threat.
Geneseo finished the 2015 season with an 11-5-1 record, including a 6-3 SUNYAC mark that clinched the third seed for the conference tournament. The Knights fell at home to sixth-seeded Oswego in the quarterfinals, 2-1.
