GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo women's basketball head coach Alyssa Polosky was named United States Basketball Writers' Association (USBWA) Rochester Area Division II-III Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, while five student-athletes earned USBWA honors as well. Women's basketball senior forward McKenna Brooks and sophomore guard Lindsay Halpin were named to the USBWA First Team while sophomore guard Natalie Alfieri received an honorable mention.
Polosky was named Coach of the Year after leading the Knights to a 24-5 mark, a SUNYAC finals appearance and an NCAA Tournament berth, where the Knights defeated Vassar, 74-55, to advance to the second round. She set the program mark for most wins by a first-year head coach, pushing Geneseo to its seventh-consecutive 20+ win season.
Brooks averaged 12.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, boasting a 49.1% field goal percentage in her senior season. Halpin was one of only two sophomores selected to the first team after averaging 10.3 points and 4.2 assists per game and shooting 36.4% from three. Alfieri earned an honorable mention after scoring 9.2 points and grabbing 4.8 rebounds per game.
