GENESEO, N.Y. – Eight members of the SUNY Geneseo men's cross country team were named all-conference by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) after leading the Knights to their second-straight title and sixth in the last seven years, Saturday, at Plattsburgh.
Sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani and junior Alfredo Mazzuca were first team honorees after running to first and second place, respectively. Seniors Sean Fischer and Brendan Wortner joined junior Alex Kramer on the second team while sophomore Connor Pulvidente, junior Travis Briggs and junior Adam Murphy were named to the third team.
Garcia-Cassani covered the eight-kilometer course in a winning time of 25:00.7, while Mazzuca was close behind with a 25:10.6 clocking. Fischer took seventh (25:14.5) followed by Wortner in eighth (25:22.5) and Kramer in ninth (25:25.3). Pulvidente placed 11th (25:34.8) while Briggs came in 12th (25:37.3) and Murphy was 14th (25:41.0).
Garcia-Cassani and Mazzuca also landed SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame honors following Saturday's meet. To qualify for the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame, a runner must finish in the top 5 once, top 10 twice, or top 15 three times.
The Knights will next run in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 14, hosted by Geneseo at Letchworth State Park.
