BROCKPORT, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Alfredo Mazzuca captured the crown in the mile run while senior Michael Segelin finished second in the 60-meter dash to lead the Knights at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by Brockport, Saturday.
Mazzuca completed the mile run in a personal-best time of 4:24.65 to come in first place.
Segelin ran the 60-meter dash in 7.11 to take second while junior Austin Donroe came in fourth (7.17).
Geneseo captured three of the top four spots in the 5,000-meter run as first-year Matt Jorgensen led the way with a second-place finish (15:43.52), followed by senior Alex Beals in third (15:44.91) and senior Brendan Wortner (15:47.49) in fourth.
The Knights 4x400-meter relay team of junior Brian Windisch, sophomore Elineury Collado, Donroe and junior Nate Lo Parco ran the event in 3:31.60 to come in second. Windisch also recorded a new personal-best in the 800-meter run, finishing the event in 1:59.51.
First-year Chris Walter finished sixth in the triple jump with a jump of 12.81m.
Geneseo returns to Brockport next weekend for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championships. Events begin Friday, Feb. 26, and continue on Saturday, Feb. 27.
