Men's Swimming & Diving Clinches Third-Straight SUNYAC Championship

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's swimming & diving team won the 2016 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship, hosted by Erie Community College's Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo. The title was the Knights' third-straight and 23rd overall team title, including the 19th championship in the last 21 years.

Senior Andy Schunk was named the 2016 James Fulton Award winner in recognition of overall athletic and academic achievement over the last four years. 

Paul Dotterweich was named the SUNYAC Coach of the Year, marking the ninth time he has garnered the award, while Shawn Austin was named the SUNYAC Diving Coach of the Year as well. 

Out of 20 total events, Geneseo placed first in 12.

Senior Yonghoon Jun won the 100 butterfly (50.35) and the 200 butterfly (1:53.78, B-Cut) and added legs to the winning 200 free relay (1:23.55), 400 medley relay (3:23.40, SUNYAC, meet, school records, B-Cut) and 800 free relay (6:59.00). 

Senior Kristian Tialios swept the 200 IM (1:55.64, SUNYAC, meet, school records, B-Cut) and the 100 backstroke (51.00) while adding legs to the winning 200 medley relay (1:31.45, SUNYAC, meet and school records, B-Cut) and 400 medley relay. 

Sophomore Jeff Doser won the 500 free (4:41.29) while swimming on the winning 200 and 400 medley relays as well as the first-place 800 free relay. 

Sophomore Samuel Randall won the 1-meter dive (533.70, SUNYAc, meet, school record) after also establishing a school record in a runner-up finish on 3-meter (577.3). 

First-year Clark Davis was crowned champion in the 1,650 freestyle (16:43.04).
