GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior goalkeeper Dillon Medd made five saves but the Knights fell, 1-0, to visiting Cortland in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) tilt on Friday at College Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Geneseo and Cortland played a level first half, with the Red Dragons owning a 4-2 shot advantage.
In the 68th minute, Cortland midfielder Sam Fuller struck a ball from 35 yards out that knuckled away from Medd and found side netting to put the Red Dragons ahead, 1-0.
The Knights had chances to equalize down the stretch, but their best opportunity came when senior forward Gavin Gleasman earned a free kick from 25 yards out. Senior back Greg Baumstein lined up to take the direct kick but put his shot just over the bar.
Medd made five saves to improve his season save percentage to a team-best .814.
The Knights tallied five shots, including three from Gleasman.
Geneseo will play its final regular season home game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they face Oswego.
