PITTSFORD, N.Y - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Gavin Gleasman netted a first-half hat trick to lead the Knights past St. John Fisher, 4-0, on Tuesday night at Growney Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Geneseo opened the scoring in the third minute of play as junior midfielder Junsei Ro found Gleasman for a goal just 2:49 into the match.
In the 29th minute, Gleasman struck again off an assist from junior back Caleb Murthy.
Gleasman completed his hat trick at the 36:53 mark, beating a defender a firing a shot past the keeper to put Geneseo ahead, 3-0.
Junior forward Bryan Wager added a second-half insurance tally to put the Knights up, 4-0.
Gleasman's hat trick marked the first by a Knight since Ethan Gunty '17 scored four goals on Sept. 24, 2016 in a 6-1 victory over host Fredonia.
Gleasman's first-career multi-goal contest was the second-consecutive multi-goal game by a Knight after Wager scored twice against New Paltz on Saturday.
Junior goalkeeper Liam Dole earned a one-save shutout, his second of the season, to improve to 4-1-0 in net.
Wager's goal marked his third in two games, matching his season total from last year.
The Knights (5-5-3, 2-3-1) will travel to State University of New York Athletic Conference rival Brockport on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
