BUFFALO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore midfielder Marco LaRocca scored the Knights' lone goal as the squad settled for a 1-1 draw at State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Buffalo State on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
LaRocca scored in the 13th minute, putting the Knights ahead on a corner kick. LaRocca curled an in-swinging corner just inside the far post and under the crossbar to give Geneseo the 1-0 lead.
In the 39th minute, Buffalo State equalized with a goal scored on a breakaway to level the score before halftime.
The Knights' best chance to take the lead came in the 79th minute when junior midfielder Junsei Ro connected on the end of a cross, but sent his shot straight at the goalkeeper, who turned it away.
LaRocca scored the first goal of his career after missing nearly all of last season due to injury.
Junior goalkeeper Dillon Medd made five saves to preserve the draw.
Geneseo (3-3-3, 1-1-1) will travel to Fredonia for another SUNYAC battle on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
