GENESEO, N.Y. - For the second time in three weeks, SUNY Geneseo senior forward Tyson Empey was named PrestoSports Athlete of the Week, announced by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) on Monday afternoon.
Empey tallied the game-winning goal against Amherst, scoring short-handed in the third period, to lead the Knights to a 3-2 victory over the Mammoths. On Sunday, he added a power-play goal, his seventh power-play tally of the season, to tie the game, 4-4, in the third period.
Empey leads the SUNYAC and ranks third in the nation with 10 goals while his seven power play scores rank first in NCAA Division III hockey. He earned the award for the second time, also being named PrestoSports Athlete of the Week on Monday, Nov. 18.
