No. 6 Men's Ice Hockey Clipped at Fredonia, 5-1

FREDONIA, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Arthur Gordon netted the lone goal as the sixth-ranked SUNY Geneseo Men's Ice Hockey suffered a letdown at State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opponent Fredonia, dropping Friday night's contest 5-1.

Gordon's tally came in second period on an assist from first-year forward Andrew Romano. Sophomore goaltender Devin McDonald received the start in net but was relieved in the second period after making 13 saves and allowing four goals. Senior netminder Matt Leon entered the game and made 16 saves over the final 34 minutes, allowing one goal.

The Knights and Blue Devils shot evenly in the first period with both teams taking 13 rips, but the home team managed to find the net twice in the initial frame. Fredonia added another tally in the second period but this one was quickly answered by Gordon's score. The Geneseo goal came just 15 seconds after Fredonia netted its goal, making it 3-1 with 15:29 to go in the second period.

The Blue Devils scored again later in the second period and once more in the third to extend their lead to the final score of 5-1.

Geneseo moves to 14-5-3 on the season with a record of 8-4-1 in the SUNYAC. The team will play host to No. 12 Buffalo State College on Saturday night in another SUNYAC showdown.
