Szmyd got the Knights on the board less than three minutes into the game before Hills made it a 2-0 lead with 8:38 remaining in the first. However, it was the Kangaroos bouncing back with a pair of tallies in the last five minutes to knot the game, 2-2, after one period.
Geneseo notched three-unanswered goals to build a 5-2 lead by the second intermission. First-year Devin Brink puts the Knights on top with a goal at 12:10, before Szmyd and junior defenseman Pat Condon tallied goals in a 1:14 span to put the visitors on top by three with 1:24 left in the period.
Canton came out firing in the third period, forging ahead with four-unanswered goals in the first eight minutes of action to take a 6-5 lead. With less than three minutes remaining in regulation, the Kangaroos were whistled for a tripping penalty.
