Field Hockey Comes Up Short At No. 14 Rochester, 3-2

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward Giovanna Fasanello and sophomore midfielder Tess Necaise each scored a goal, but it was No. 14 Rochester earning a 3-2 victory, Friday, snapping the Knights' eight-match winning-streak.

Geneseo (9-9) fell behind on a pair of Yellowjacket (15-3) goals in a three-minute span to trail, 2-0, in the 30th minute. However, it was Fasanello beating a defender and scoring inside right post to put the visitors on the board in the 34th minute.

Rochester re-took a two-goal edge with a tally in the 38th minute that it carried into intermission.

In the second half it was Necaise tipping a top-circle shot by senior defender Liz Doherty in from close range to pull Geneseo within one in the 47th minute.

The three goals the Knights allowed equaled the number it had let up in its previous eight games.

Geneseo kicks off the postseason on Wednesday (Nov. 2) in the semifinals of the SUNYAC Tournament taking on host New Paltz at 2:00 p.m. The Knights are the third seed while the Hawks are second.
