Field Hockey Takes Down Keuka, 4-0

KEUKA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Giovanna Fasanello scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Knights to a 4-0 victory at Keuka, Wednesday.

Geneseo (9-8) picked up its eighth-consecutive victory to extend the second-longest winning-streak in program history, only trailing the 2010 team that went unbeaten in 17-straight matchups.

Fasanello tallied an unanssisted marker in the 22nd minute before scoring on a shot from the top of the circle off a feed from junior midfielder Morgan Maley on a penalty corner insert to build a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute.

Junior forward Emma Dempsey scored on a shot from the right side that made its way through traffic in the 34th minute to build a 3-0 edge the Knights took into halftime.

Junior forward Cara Stafford scored on a shot inside the left post off a Fasanello feed in the 42nd minute for what proved to be the eventual four-goal winning margin. 

Junior goalie Nicole Gregg stopped two Keuka shots as Geneseo out-shot its hosts, 29-3. Posting their fifth shutout of the season, the Knights have only allowed three goals during their current run.

The Knights close the regular season on Friday, taking on host Rochester at 6:00 p.m.
