GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo women's cross country senior Elise Ramirez and men's cross country junior Sean McAneny were each named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Runner of the Week after their performances at the Inter-Regional Border Battle in Logan, N.J. on Saturday.
Ramirez finished fifth out of 345 runners to lead Geneseo to second place at the Inter-Regional Border Battle, hosted by Rowan, on Saturday. She covered the six-kilometer course in 21:25.4 to finish less than 20 seconds behind the top finisher. Entering the meet ranked third nationally, Geneseo finished runner-up to top-ranked Johns Hopkins, while defeating seven other nationally-ranked squads in the 39-team field.
McAneny finished second out of 394 runners to lead Geneseo to second place at the Inter Regional Border Battle. He covered the eight-kilometer course in 25:02.7 to finish less than three seconds behind the overall winner. Geneseo was ranked No. 13 nationally entering the race and finished ahead of No. 2 RPI and No. 7 Carnegie Mellon along with four other nationally ranked squads in the 42-team field.
