SAAC Rallies To Donate Canned Goods With "Souper Bowl" Event

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the "Souper Bowl," in February, an event dedicated to collecting canned goods and non-perishables for the less-fortunate in Livingston County.

SAAC set up the food drive to coincide with Super Bowl weekend, collecting items in exchange for free admission to the Geneseo Ice Hockey game on Saturday, Febraury 11.

A total of 372 canned goods and non-perishable food items were collected and donated to the Geneseo-Groveland Emergency Food Pantry, the emergency food source serving the Geneseo Central School District.

"It's so good to give back to our community," said senior Liz Doherty, President of Geneseo SAAC, "[SAAC] is trying to give back to the community for all they do to support us as student-athletes, and I think it's showing in the increased support we continue to receive from the community."
