Women's Cross Country Finishes Second At Inter-Regional Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – SUNY Geneseo senior Elise Ramirez finished fifth out of 345 runners to lead the Knights to second place out of 39 teams at the Inter-Regional Border Battle, hosted by Rowan at Gloucester County Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • Ramirez crossed the finish line in 21:25.4, less than 20 seconds behind overall winner Emily Forner (21:05.8) from Allegheny.
  • Junior Genny Corcoran (21:45.3) and senior Allison Fernandez (21:48.8) also logged top-10 finishes, crossing eight and 10th, respectively.
  • Senior Dana Cebulski placed 29th (22:20.9) before junior Taylor Rettig (22:31.5) completed the Knights' top-five with a 35th-place finish.
  • Johns Hopkins entered the meet atop this week's national poll, followed by Geneseo (No. 3), third-place Wesleyan (No. 33), fourth-place Rochester (No. 22), fifth-place St. Lawrence (No. 7), sixth-place RPI (No. 10), seventh-place Carnegie Mellon (No. 30), eighth-place Allegheny (No. 35) and 14th-place Swarthmore (RV) among the ranked teams in today's field. 
  • Gloucester County Park will also be the site of the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships (Nov. 10) next month.
