GENESEO, N.Y. - Six members of the SUNY Geneseo women's cross country team were named to the U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region team, announced Monday.
The top-35 finishers in each of the eight regional championships from around the country garner the award. Geneseo won its second-consecutive Atlantic Region Championship on Saturday, qualifying for its 18th-straight NCAA Division III Championship later this week.
Senior Marissa Cossaro finished seventh, followed by senior Sara Rosenzweig in ninth as both runners earned their second-consecutive all-region recognition after finishing 17th and seventh, respectively, a season ago.
Sophomore Elise Ramirez was close behind in 13th-place, followed by senior Marissa Bellusci in 28th and junior Kristen Homeyer in 33rd. Senior Kelly Flanagan also logged an all-region finish, coming in 34th out of 304 total runners in the field.
Geneseo was ranked third in the final USTFCCCA Division III poll prior to the national championship race on Saturday (Nov. 19) at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. A season ago, the Knights logged the second-highest finish in program history, notching a second-place finish.
