Women's Cross Country Takes Sixth-Consecutive SUNYAC Title

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior Sara Rosenzweig captured her second-consecutive individual crown to lead the women's cross country team to its sixth-straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship, Saturday, hosted by Geneseo at Letchworth State Park.

Geneseo out-distanced the field by compiling 28 points as Oneonta (43), Cortland (113), Fredonia (118) and Plattsburgh (120) rounded out the top-five teams in the field. The title was the Knights' 16th in the last 17 years.

Rosenzweig covered the six-kilometer course in 21:46.6, followed by senior Marissa Cossaro in second place (21:51.0). Sophomore Elise Ramirez finished seventh (22:20.0) followed by senior Marissa Bellusci (22:21.5) in eighth and junior Kristen Homeyer in 10th (22:26.1) to close out the Knights' top-five.

Senior Kelly Flanagan came across with a 17th-place effort (22:46.6) followed by first-year Dana Cebulski in 20th (23:03.5) as Geneseo was the only team with seven runners in the top-20.

Geneseo has now won 16 total SUNYAC Championships, tying Cortland for the most titles in the 34-year history of the race.

The Knights will next run in the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regionals in two weeks (Nov. 12) hosted by Rowan in Glassboro, N.J.
