Women's Cross Country Runs To First At Purple Valley Classic

WILLIAMSTOWN, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Sara Rosenzweig finished in sixth place to lead the Knights to the team championship at the Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams (Mass.), Saturday.

Geneseo totaled 65 points to out-distance runner-up MIT (71), Williams (100), Tufts (125) and Wisconsin-Lacrosse (143) to round out the top-five squads in the 23-team field.

Geneseo, which was ranked second nationally and first in the Atlantic Region entering the meet, upset defending national champion Williams, which entered the weekend ranked first in Division III. MIT was ranked fifth nationally, while Tufts was ranked sixth and Wisconsin-Lacrosse was ranked 10th. RPI (No. 11), Ithaca (No. 14), Amherst (No. 21) and Dickinson (No. 30) also competed in the field.
