OSWEGO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo sophomore Elise Ramirez was the overall winner to lead the Knights to first place out of seven teams at the Oswego Invitational, Saturday.
Ramirez covered the five-kilometer course with a time of 19:46 to out-distance senior teammate Sara Rosenzweig (19:53) as the first seven runners across the finish line were Knights.
Senior Ashley Peppriell crossed the finish line in third (20:00), followed by senior Marissa Cossaro (20:02) in fourth, senior Marissa Bellusci (20:06) in fifth, junior Kristen Homeyer (20:11) in sixth, and sophomore Allison Fernandez (20:17) in seventh.
"I am really pleased with the team's fitness at this point in the season," said head coach Dan Moore. "We came in with a strategy for the whole team to run as a pack for a majority of the race. Watching them accelerate and close hard was fun and impressive to watch."
The Knights will be back in action next Saturday (Sept. 17) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by the University of Rochester.
