Six Things You Need To Know About the 2018-19 Women's Track & Field Team

GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Geneseo women's track & field team kicks off the 2018-19 campaign Saturday at the Brockport Alumni Invitational. Here are six things you need to know about the Knights heading into the season.

COMPLETE THE SET
The Knights will be in the hunt for their third-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor and Outdoor Championships after sweeping both titles for the last two seasons. Geneseo also returns after claiming all six SUNYAC Championships (M/W cross country, M/W indoor track & field, M/W outdoor track & field) during the 2017-18 academic year. Geneseo is the only program to achieve the feat in the 51-year history of the conference, also completing the sweep in 2002-03 and 2005-06.

MULTI-PURPOSE
Sophomore Emily Lavarnway and senior Shayna Held return after garnering All-America honors last year. The duo finished third and fourth, respectively, in the heptathlon at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and own the top-two performances (Held – 4,685, Lavarnway – 4,663) in program history. Held, who also placed an All-American seventh in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships, holds three indoor program records (200 - 26.04, 60 hurdles - 8.80, pentathlon - 3,435) and another two outdoor (heptathlon – 4,685, javelin - 36.89m/121' 0.5").

ALL-AMERICAN ERIN
Senior Erin MacDougall is back after garnering a pair of All-America citations at last winter's NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished third in the 60 hurdles (8.84) and led off the Knights' sixth-place 4x400 relay (3:53.12). MacDougall also set a program records in the 200 (25.27) and the 100 hurdles (14.25) during the outdoor season.
