GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Shayna Held was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Track & Field Women's Track Athlete of the Week after helping the Knights to first place at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday.
Held's day included posting the nation's eighth-fastest 60-meter hurdles time of the season, clocking a 9.07 in the prelims which was also the second-best ever by a Geneseo runner. She went on to finish third in the finals (9.20).
Held also finished second in the 200 (26.30) with the third-best time in program history and led off the runner-up 4x400 relay (4:11.06) as Geneseo compiled 210.5 points to out-distance second-place Case Western Reserve (90 points) and the rest of the 12-team field.
Held and the Knights will be back in action this Saturday (Jan. 27) at the Cornell Kane Invitational, set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
