GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo juniors Isaac Garcia-Cassani and Camille Wutz each posted NCAA Division III's top mark this season in their respective events to earn State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Track & Field Athlete of the Week Honors.
Garcia-Cassani was named SUNYAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week after earning a first place finish in the 1,500m (3:44.72) against a field of predominantly Division I and II competitors at the Bucknell Invitational. Setting the top time in Division III this season, he also broke his own SUNYAC record in the process. He also ran a leg in Geneseo's program record-setting 4x800 relay team (7:40.43) that placed second at the Bucknell Invitational.
Wutz won the long jump at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational on Friday with a leap of 6.13m (20-1 1/2) to earn SUNYAC Field Athlete of the Week. Her mark stands as the top performance in Division III this season and the fifth-best in Division III history. Wutz also won the 100 with a 12.24 clocking that also ranks 26th in Division III this year.
Garcia-Cassani, Wutz and the Knights will continue their season at the Cortland Red Dragon Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
