Women's Tennis Completes Rain-Delayed Match Against Fredonia

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Nina Lurie earned a pair of victories as the Knights completed a season sweep of their conference divisional rivals with a 9-0 victory over Fredonia on Friday afternoon at Midtown Athletic Club. 

The match had been suspended from its original date (Sept. 7) due to rain, with Geneseo leading 3-0 after completing doubles play. Lurie and first-year Dana Sorrentino took third doubles, 8-1, while seniors Anika Pornpitaksuk and Lauren Salzano nabbed first doubles with an identical score. Senior Rachel Ollis and junior Vanessa Lam-Tran completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at the second flight.

In singles, Salzano's opponent defaulted at the second flight while Lam-Tran earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the top flight. Pornpitaksuk, Ollis, Lurie and junior Jenn Buckhout each earned singles wins as the Knights completed the sweep. 

Geneseo will begin SUNYAC Tournament play on Saturday (Oct. 14) in Binghamton.
