Women's Tennis Announces 2016-17 Slate

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's tennis team announced its upcoming schedule for the 2016-17 season. Second-year head coach Jason Stephens and the Knights will be in the hunt for the program's sixth-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships this fall as well as a sixth-straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament this coming spring. 

"We are all looking forward to another exciting year," said Stephens. "Our schedule is going to be very tough with the addition of two nationally-ranked opponents in Case-Western Reserve (Ohio) and Oberlin (Ohio). We also look forward to the challenge of trying to repeat as SUNYAC Champions."

The Knights will kick the new slate off on Thursday, Sept. 1 with a 4:00 p.m. road matchup with Nazareth before returning home the following day to take on visiting SUNYAC foe Oswego at 4:00 p.m.

After competing in the William Smith Invitational (Sept. 10-11), Geneseo will play back-to-back SUNYAC squads at home versus Brockport (Sept. 13) and on the road opposite Fredonia (Sept. 14).

Following at trip to Canton, N.Y. for the St. Lawrence Invitational (Sept. 17-18), the Knights will play a pair of SUNYAC dual matches on the road against Oneonta (Sept. 20) and New Paltz (Sept. 23). The squad will finish the month playing at the USTA/ITA Northeast Region Championships at William Smith (Sept. 24-25) before taking on host Cortland (Sept. 30).

Geneseo closes the fall semester with a dual match at home versus RPI (Oct. 1) before playing in the SUNYAC Championship Tournament (Oct. 7-9) to be played at the Binghamton (N.Y.) Tennis Center.

The spring will open for the Knights in April with a trip to Oberlin (Apr. 2) before taking on host RIT (Apr. 6), NYU (Apr. 8) and Union (Apr. 9). Geneseo is schedule to host Rochester (Apr. 12) before playing closing the regular season at St. Lawrence (Apr. 15). 

The NCAA Division III Tournament is schedule to start on May 12, hosted on campus sites to be announced.
