Womens Tennis Defeats New Paltz, Winning Third Straight SUNYAC Title

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- SUNY Geneseo defeated SUNY New Paltz, 5-1, to reclaim the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tennis Championship crown Sunday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.

Sophomore Marylen Santos was victorious at number-one singles and paired with junior teammate Amanda Rosati to win at number-one doubles to lead the Knights to their third consecutive SUNYAC tennis title and seventh overall.

First-years Maggie Hale and Karli Hollins teamed up to win at number-three doubles while also winning their singles matches at number-four and number-five, respectively. Junior Dexuan Yuan also took a spot winning at number-two doubles against New Paltz.

Geneseo entered the three-day tournament defeating Plattsburgh on Friday and Oneonta, Saturday to advance to the championship match against SUNY New Paltz.

This Championship win for the Knights means that they will clinch a bid to the NCAA Tournament in the Spring.
