GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo women's soccer head coach Nate Wiley, along with assistant coaches Scott Faro and Meaghan Johnston, were named East Region Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly United Soccer Coaches of America Association, USCAA).
In Wiley's 11th season as head coach, the Knights tied a program record with 18 wins, finishing the season with an 18-2-2 mark. The team hosted the first NCAA Tournament games in program history, defeating Penn St.-Berks in overtime, 2-1, in the first round and downing Misericordia in double-overtime, 1-0, in the second round. Geneseo reached the Sweet 16 for the second time in program history, but fell to Johns Hopkins, 2-0, at Williams College.
Senior midfielder Leah Greene was named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Player of the Year while first-year forward Ellie Gregory was named SUNYAC Rookie of the Year to lead eight Geneseo all-conference selections, and sophomore back Taylor Clar was honored as a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection as well.
Wiley has been the Knights' head coach since 2006, accumulating 130 coaching victories during his tenure. Faro joined the staff prior to the 2014 season, while Johnston completed her first season on staff after a four-year playing career with the Knights.
