GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team will host Penn State-Berks in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament this Saturday (Nov. 11) at College Stadium as the 64-team field was announced Monday. Game time has been set for 11:00 a.m.
The Knights (16-1-2), ranked No. 12 in the most recent United Soccer Coaches National poll, defeated Plattsburgh, 4-0, last Saturday to clinch their seventh State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship and earn an automatic bid to the sixth NCAA Tournament in program history.
Selected to host first and second round matches for the the first time, Misericordia (Pa.) will also take on Hamilton at 1:30 p.m. in other first-round action with the winners advancing to Sunday's second round game slated for 1:00 p.m. at College Stadium.
Geneseo is making its first NCAA appearance since 2014 when it advanced past Frostburg (Md.) on penalty kicks, 2-1, after a 3-3 tie in regulation. The Knights then fell to host Johns Hopkins, 3-1, in the second round. Geneseo also appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2009, 1994, 1993 and 1992.
