ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior forward Erin O'Connor scored a first-half goal before the Knights tallied two more time in the second half in a 3-0 victory over Union in on the second day of the Flower City Classic, hosted by Rochester.
O'Connor, who was named tournament MVP, got Geneseo (1-0-1) on the board in the 34th minute after completing a long run up the left side with a crossing shot into the lower right corner of the Dutchmen net for her first goal of the year.
Less than 11 minutes into the second half, senior midfielder Emily Green scored on a 15-yard shot into the lower left corner of the goal for the 2-0 lead.
In the 73rd minute, senior midfielder Laurie Knapp scored after collecting a loose ball that hit off the cross bar following a shot by senior midfielder Meaghan Johnston for the final tally of the game.
Geneseo out-shot Union, 16-5, at sophomore Emily Janiszewski stopped two shots in 82 minutes of action to earn the victory.
The Knights open the home portion of the schedule on Thursday (Sept. 8) hosting Nazareth at 7:00 p.m.
