GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's lacrosse team was named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squads for the 2016-17 academic year.
The squad is one of over 300 college lacrosse teams honored across all NCAA and NAIA divisions, including 141 NCAA Division III institutions. To qualify for this prestigious honor, a team must earn a grade point average of 3.0 or better through the 2016-17 academic year. Geneseo averaged a 3.18 GPA as a team.
The Knights finished the season with a 9-9 overall record including a 5-3 mark in conference play. The team qualified for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoffs, earning a victory over Buffalo State, 20-6, in the quarterfinal round before falling to second seed Cortland in the semifinals.
