Two Knights Named Women's Lacrosse All-Region

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Erin Cregan and junior defender Karen Boronczyk were named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Empire Region, announced Friday.

A first-team pick, Cregan moved up after copping second-team honors a season ago. A three-time All-SUNYAC selection, she led the squad with 49 points, including 38 goals that ranked ninth in the SUNYAC, while her 33 caused turnovers were the third-highest total in the league. Cregan's 41 ground balls ranked sixth in the SUNYAC while her 40 draw controls stood 10th. She scored a career-high six goals to go along with an assist in the team's 16-5 victory at New Paltz (Apr. 8) after also totaling five goals and an assist in a 14-4 win over Keene State (Mar. 16).

A first-time all-region honoree, Boronczyk was tabbed a second-team all-region pick after also landing first-team All-SUNYAC selection earlier this week. She finished 11th in the SUNYAC in both draw controls (38) and ground balls (33) while also causing 30 turnovers for the fifth-highest mark in the SUNYAC. She was credited with a season-high five ground balls in the team's 15-7 win over visiting Potsdam (Apr. 29) while snagging a career-high seven draw controls opposite Cortland in the SUNYAC Tournament Semifinals (May 5.)

Earning its fourth consecutive SUNYAC Tournament berth, Geneseo finished its season with a 9-9 mark. Clinching the third seed for the postseason, the team advanced to the conference semifinals for the eighth time in nine years, notching its third-consecutive quarterfinal-round victory since the tournament field expanded to six teams in 2015.
