GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior attacker Hannah Millich notched two goals as the Knights (3-5, 0-2 SUNYAC) fell to their 17th-ranked State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rival Brockport, 14-4, on Tuesday evening at College Stadium.
First-year midfielder Tessa Doody and sophomore attacker Maddie Lee each scored a goal while sophomore goalkeeper Tess McFadden finished with four saves in net. Junior midfielder Erin Cregan led the team with three caused turnovers and scooped up three ground balls while senior midfielder Kathleen DePillo had a team-high four ground balls and passed off an assist.
In the first half, Brockport pulled out to a 4-0 lead, holding the Knights scoreless over the first 10:28 until Lee broke the seal for the home team with a free position goal. The Golden Eagles netted two more before the break, but senior Lauren Corbett found Millich for a score with 4:11 to go, making the score 6-2.
Geneseo began the second half with a quick score as DePillo found Doody for a goal just 1:15 into the frame. Brockport answered with seven consecutive tallies over the next 18:14, taking a 10-goal lead, 13-3, with 10:31 to go. With 8:25 remaining, Millich netted her second, receiving a pass from junior Halee Beebe to make it 13-4. Brockport added a score in the final seconds to gain a double-digit advantage as the clock wound out the final seconds.
The Knights return to action on Friday, April 7 when they travel to Ithaca to take on the Bombers.
