Women's Lacrosse Duo Lands All-Region Honors

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior goalie Claudia Coleates and sophomore midfielder Erin Cregan were named members of the 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Empire Region squad, announced Friday.

A first-team honoree, Coleates garnered her second-straight all-region certificate after landing second-team recognition a season ago. Also a two-time first-team All-SUNYAC selection, she finished first in the conference and 17th nationally with a 6.90 goals against average, while her .508 save percentage ranked second in the league and 32nd in the country. She was also named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team for the second-straight season.

Cregan was voted a second-team all-region pick after leading the Knights with 40 points, including 32 goals that were also a team-high. A two-time All-SUNYAC pick, including second-team plaudits this year, she was credited with five goals and an assist in the squad's SUNYAC victory over New Paltz (Apr. 2) and added a three-goal, two-assist showing in the team's 12-5 victory at Oswego (Apr. 12).

Geneseo finished the season with a 12-6 record, including a 6-2 SUNYAC mark that tied the Knights for second in the regular-season standings. Advancing to their 16th SUNYAC Tournament Semifinal appearance in 18 years, the Knights fell to Brockport, 14-8, (May 6) to close the season.
