ITHACA, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior midfielder Lauren Corbett scored three goals while junior attack Kathleen DePillo and sophomore attack Hannah Millich added two goals apiece to lead the Knights to a 11-9 victory at Ithaca, Thursday.
Geneseo (5-3) started the game on a 4-0 run, capped by Corbett's first tally, with 15:18 on the clock. A free-position tally by Millich made it a 6-2 lead for the visitors with 2:03 left in the half, but the Bombers scored twice in the final 1:18, including a tally as time expired, to pull within two, 6-4, after 30 minutes of play.
Corbett started the second half with back-to-back goals to put the Knights back on top by four, 8-4, at 25:38. Millich's second tally put Geneseo on top, 9-5, with 16:59 to play, but it was Ithaca scoring four-unanswered tallies to tie the game, 9-9, with 8:16 left in regulation.
Sophomore midfielder Erin Cregan broke the tie with a free-position shot from the top-left corner of the eight-meter arc with 5:35 remaining for what proved to be the deciding goal. DePillo tacked on one last goal with 11 seconds on the clock to seal the Knights' fourth-consecutive win.
Geneseo kicks off State University of New York Athletic Conference play on Saturday, hosting New Paltz at 12:00 p.m.
