Women's Lacrosse Moves Past Stevenson (Md.), 4-2

STEVENSON, Md. - SUNY Geneseo senior midfielder Liz Felix scored two goals to lead the Knights to a 4-2 victory at Stevenson (Md.), Sunday afternoon.

Felix opened the scoring 5:27 into the contest with a goal off an assist by senior attack Erin Down, but it was the Mustangs answering 1:16 later to even the score, 1-1, with 23:17 on the clock.

Geneseo notched back-to-back tallies to take a 3-1 lead. Sophomore midfielder Erin Cregan scored off an assist by first-year attack Maddie Lee at 19:34 before Lee scored on a free-position attempt 41 seconds later. Stevenson pulled back within one with a goal at 5:11 but it was the Knights carrying a 3-2 lead into halftime.

Felix scored on a free-position shot at 24:15 for the lone goal of the second half as the Geneseo defense shut the Mustangs out over the final 35:11 of the game to snap a three-game slide. 

Felix also notched three ground balls and three caused turnovers while Geneseo out-shot Stevenson, 22-9. Senior goalie Claudia Coleates totaled four saves and a team-high four ground balls for the Knights.

Geneseo returns home on Wednesday to host Rochester at 4:00 p.m.
