ROCHESTER, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior attack Caroline Buonocore scored two goals and two assists to tie the Knights' career-scoring record while junior attack Katey Hart added a career-high seven goals to lead No. 11 Geneseo to a 17-8 victory at RIT, Tuesday.
RIT (1-1) scored a goal 1:21 into the game, but the Knights (3-0) responded with a 9-1 run, including five goals by Hart, to take a seven goal lead with four minute to play in the half and lead, 9-3, at intermission.
Hart's record-tying point came on an assist of a first-year attack Kathleen DePillo's goal at 9:56 that staked the visitors to a 7-2 lead.
The Tigers would again score early in the second half, but Geneseo would again respond with a 5-1 spurt to lead, 14-5, with 19:23 left in regulation to put the game out of reach.
Geneseo out-shot RIT, 41-16, including a 24-13 edge in shots on goal, and also built a 24-14 advantage in ground balls.
Senior attack Emily Haggerty finished the game with five assists.
With 222 career points, Buonocore needs one point to move ahead of Lauren Chatteron '05 to become the program's all-time leading scorer.
Geneseo returns to action on Sunday, taking on Western Connecticut in Orlando, Fla. at 11:00 a.m. at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex.
