GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior forward McKenna Brooks earned a 2018 Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) Division III Coaches' All-American Honorable Mention, announced this weekend. She becomes the ninth Geneseo women's basketball player to receive All-America honors, and the first since Allison McKenna '16 in 2016.
A two-time State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Conference selection, Brooks landed conference Player of the Year honors this season after being named to the second team a year ago. Also an All-East Region Second Team selection by D3hoops.com, Brooks led the SUNYAC in shooting percentage (50.4) and steals per game (2.4) while ranking fifth in rebounds per game (7.9) and eighth in scoring (12.0).
Brooks finished the season with eight double-doubles, including a 15-point, 12-rebound performance in a 79-76 loss at RIT (Jan. 23). She scored a season-high 21 points in a 90-63 victory over Morrisville (Nov. 21) and netted 19 points in a fourth-quarter comeback win over host New Paltz, 58-56 (Dec. 2).
Geneseo's 2017-18 campaign included a SUNYAC Championship, the team's first since 2015, and a fourth-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Knights fell to Ithaca, 54-47, in the opening round, to finish the season with a 25-3 record.
