Hemer Tagged BCANY Coach Of The Year

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo women's basketball coach Scott Hemer was recently named Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) Women's College Division Coach of the Year.

Hemer led the 2016-17 Knights to a 28-2 record, marking the winningest season in program history. The 10th-year coach also guided the squad to its third-straight NCAA Division III Tournament, as Geneseo advanced to Round of 16 for the second time in three years.

Under his guidance, Geneseo entered the postseason with an 25-0 record, marking just the second time in program history a squad completed the regular season undefeated. The Knights also finished the season with an unblemished 18-0 SUNYAC record to earn the top seed for the conference tournament, playing to the championship game for the fifth-consecutive season and sixth time in seven years.

Hemer was voted the United States Marine Corps/WBCA NCAA Division III East Region Coach of the Year for the second-straight season after being tabbed National Coach of the Year following the 2015-16 campaign. Also named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Coach of the Year for the third-straight season and fourth time in his career, Hemer was named the D3hoops.com East Region Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons, also receiving the honor following the 2014-15 season.
