Women's Basketball Takes Down Brockport, 79-60

GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Katie Durand totaled 16 points to lead five Knights in double-figure scoring in a 79-60 victory over visiting Brockport in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball action, Saturday. Geneseo improved to 11-0 on the season while running its conference record to 5-0. 

Senior guard Kara Houppert, sophomore forward McKenna Brooks and sophomore guard Kelsey Poplawski each finished with 11 points while senior forward Bridgit Ryan added 10 points for the Knights. 

Brockport (3-9, 2-3 SUNYAC) held a 13-10 lead at the 4:48 mark of the first quarter before back-to-back Poplawski three-pointers started a 14-5 run that put the Knights on top, 24-18, heading into the second quarter. 

Geneseo out-scored the Golden Eagles, 17-10, to build a 41-28 halftime edge that proved insurmountable. Brockport got within eight points, 49-41, with 4:34 remaining in the third quarter, but the Knights would go on to lead by as many as 21 down the stretch en route to the victory.

Geneseo finished with a 38-30 edge in rebounds, while only committing a season-low four turnovers on the afternoon.

The Knights hit the road on Tuesday (Jan. 10) to take on SUNYAC-rival Fredonia at 7:30 p.m.
