BUFFALO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior guard Katie Durand scored a game-high 18 points while sophomore forward McKenna Brooks totaled seven points and 14 rebounds off the bench to lead the Knights to a 59-40 victory at Medaille, Monday.

Tied, 16-16, at the 6:52 mark of the first quarter, Geneseo put together a 10-0 run capped by an old-fashioned three-point play by Durand to take a 26-16 lead with 21 seconds on the clock.

Leading, 30-21, at the 4:35 mark of the second quarter, the Knights scored 13-unanswered points to build a commanding 43-21 lead with 1:12 to play in the first half that proved to be the difference.

Medaille (1-10) got within 12 points, 47-35, with 6:31 left in the third quarter, but Geneseo built its lead back up to as many as 22 down the stretch to earn the win.

The Knights finished the game with a 55-40 rebounding advantage, including a 36-25 edge in defensive boards.

Geneseo will host Elmira on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in its first home game of the second semester. All fans will be admitted to the game for free.
