Softball Takes Two In Florida

MINNEOLA, Fla. - SUNY Geneseo senior pitcher Alexis Kidder tossed a complete-game shutout and sophomore Danni Napoli went 3-for-6 with a double, two RBI, two runs and two stolen bases as the Knights earned victories over Bethany, 4-0, and Framingham State, 6-1, on Monday morning.

GAME ONE
Kidder shut down the Bison offense with five scattered hits and five strikeouts over seven innings pitched. Napoli put the Knights on the board with an RBI double in the third inning to bring home sophomore Alyssa Persich. Sophomore Taylor Moore added a two-run double and sophomore Kylie Papagelos added an RBI single in the sixth to extend the Geneseo lead to 4-0. Kidder closed out the game to give the team a shutout win.

GAME TWO
Moore took the rubber in game two, allowing one unearned run in seven innings. The sophomore scattered six hits and struck out eight to improve to 3-0 on the year. Geneseo scored all six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, combining five hits and a pair of Framingham State errors to take a 6-0 lead.

Sophomore Taylor Fedor reached base on a swinging strikeout that squirted past the catcher and senior Taylor Knowles laid down a well-placed sacrifice bunt, reaching on an error. Sophomore Anna Merante followed with an infield single to load the bases for Persich who cleared them with a three-run double down the left field line. First-year Maddison Tucker pushed single through the right side and Napoli beat out an infield single to score Persich. Both came around to score two batters later, making it 6-0. 

The Rams loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning, but Moore worked out of the jam, allowing just one earned run as the Knights earned their second victory of the day.

Geneseo improves to 4-2 and will return to action on Wednesday with games against Salve Regina and Susquehanna, scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively.
