No. 2 Men's Cross Country Wins 37th-Annual Mike Woods Invitational

MT. MORRIS, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore Sean McAneny and senior Matt Jorgensen finished second and third, respectively, to lead the No. 2 Knights to first place out of 18 teams at the 37th-Annual Mike Woods Invitational, Saturday, at the Letchworth State Park Highbanks Recreation Area. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • McAneny covered the eight-kilometer course with a time of 25:01.1, only trailing individual champion Kevin Veltre from Rowan (24:44.0). 
  • Jorgensen was close behind with a 25:05.3 clocking. 
  • Senior Isaac Garcia-Cassani placed sixth in a time of 25:13.7, followed senior Alexander Burks (25:33.5) 12th and sophomore Lucas Sutton (25:35.5) in 14th to close out the Knights' top-five.

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Knights will take a week off before returning to action at the Cowbell Classic, hosted by Principia (Ill.), on Saturday, Oct. 14. The course will also be the site of the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships.
