GENESEO, N.Y. – Thirteen members of the SUNY Geneseo cross country program were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honorees, while both the men's and the women's teams were recognized as All-Academic squads, announced Thursday.
A total of 664 student-athletes (374 women, 290 men) from across the country were honored for having at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average while finishing in the top-25 percent at their respective NCAA Regional Championships.
A total of 216 women's teams and 173 men's teams earned All-Academic recognition for compiling at least a 3.10 cumulative grade point average and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet.
The Geneseo men team placed second at the NCAA Division III Championships, notching the highest finish ever in program history. Ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Division III national poll for three-straight weeks, the Knights won their second-consecutive NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championship as well as their third-consecutive SUNYAC title which was the seventh in eight years.
The Knights women finished third at the NCAA Division III Championships, marking the program's third-consecutive top-five showing at the national meet. Ranked No. 1 in the USTFCCCA Division III national poll for two weeks during the season, the Knights won their second NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championship along with their sixth-straight SUNYAC Championship that was also their 16th in the last 17 seasons.
