MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo junior Isaac Garcia-Cassani notched a first-place finish, leading eight Knights that finished in the top-10 at the 36th-Annual Mike Woods Invitational at the Letchworth State Park High Banks Recreation Area Course, Saturday.
The Knights compiled a winning score of 17 points, out-distancing runner-up Oswego (108), RIT (130), Fredonia (161) and St. Vincent (Pa.) (195). The victory was the ninth-straight for Geneseo at their home invitational.
Garcia-Cassani notched a winning time of 24:39.5, 17 seconds ahead of senior teammate Alex Kramer (24:56.6). junior Alexander Burks also broke the 25-minute plateau, notching a 24:58.3 clocking in third.
Senior Alfredo Mazzuca place fifth (25.14.5) followed by junior Matt Jorgensen in sixth (25:17.7) to complete the Knights' scoring five, while junior Connor Pulvidente (25:26.8) was seventh and senior Travis Briggs crossed ninth (25:37.9).
Geneseo will be back in action in two weeks (Oct. 15), traveling to Rowan (N.J.) for the Pre-Atlantic Regional meet.
