LETCHWORTH STATE PARK (N.Y.) - SUNY Geneseo junior Cohen Miles-Rath finished first to lead the men's cross country team to first place out of 20 teams at the 33rd-Annual Geneseo Cross Country Invitational at Letchworth State Park.

The Knights compiled 34 points, out-distancing Rochester (112), Vassar (117), Fredonia (122) and RPI (134) in the top-five to clinch their sixth-straight team title and 16th overall since 1981, while Miles-Rath is the 15th Geneseo runner to win the individual title.

Miles-Rath took control of the race early on, building a 100-meter lead less than two miles into the race, and never looked back, out-distancing the rest of the 255-runner field by a 18 seconds with a time of 25:15.6 over the eight-kilometer course.

Three other Knighs finished in the top-10, including junior runner-up Ryan Moynihan who crossed the finish line in 25:33.0. Senior Brendan Wortner (24:45.8) finished seventh, followed by junior Chaz Abad (25:48) in eighth. Freshman Matt Jorgensen (26:15.4) rounded out the Knights' top five with a 24th-place outcome.

Junior Tim Mateer finished 27th (26:17.5), less than one second ahead of classmate Liam Cody (26:18.7) in 28th place to complete the Geneseo top-seven.

The Knights entered the weekend ranked 35th nationally and fifth in the Atlantic Region, behind Rochester (26th nationally, third region), and ahead of RPI (seveth region) and Vassar (10th region).

Geneseo will return to action in two weeks at the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin (Ohio).
