GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Matthew Herbert and sophomore Isaac Garcia-Cassani were named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Stars, announced Monday. The duo was honored based on their performances at the conference championship meet last week.
Herbert was named a first-team all-star after winning the 10,000-meter run on Friday night. Leading a group of five Geneseo runners in the top-eight, Herbert crossed the finish line with a clocking of 31:35.66, besting the rest of the field by over eight seconds.
Garcia-Cassani landed second-team recognition after logging a runner-up finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:56.49. He also added a third-place showing in the 5,000 (14:59.53).
Geneseo finished third in the eight-team field with 128 points. Cortland finished first (166) followed by Oneonta (148).
